My Brel

This storytelling with songs — deeply human, moving in the best sense of the word and seemingly unpretentious — has every chance of becoming a repertory hit (and thoroughly deserves to). […] In truth, My Brel probably needs no advertising: an intimate conversation and something close to actors’ anecdotes, great music (isn’t it?) performed live, and the precious chance, late in the evening, to escape a bleak reality for a little over an hour and receive a life-affirming “vitamin boost”…
Elena Aldasheva, Teatr
My Brel is an extraordinarily intimate and warm-hearted production. The small auditorium of the New Stage, the late hour, a divine orchestra, three wonderful performers, beautiful music, heartbreaking lyrics, candid confessions, gentle and instantly relatable humour, little aeroplanes floating above the stage — and, in the finale, Brel himself, joining everyone present, albeit “virtually”… There is something deeply soothing about it, something that restores your faith that things can get better.
Irina Mishina, Musecube
I promise you: for a long time afterwards, one melody after another discovered at the Fomenko Workshop will keep playing in your head. There are two reasons: their undeniable beauty and… the talent of the theatre’s actors, who have “tried on” Brel’s songs and made them their own flesh and blood. […] It will be funny, moving and endlessly fascinating.
Irina Mishina, Musecube
